Your habits are seeds and your life represents the seeds you planted!
There was a season in my life when I felt so overwhelmed and indecisive. No matter how hard I tried I could not make a decision. It was like the old saying, "You can't see the forest for the trees". Everything in my life seemed like a giant that was unstoppable. I found myself in reactive mode most of the time, and that caused my anxiety to be at an all time high.
“Where are you spending majority of your time? Whatever has your focus will become your reality!”
So what did I do to get back control over my life?
I started focusing on creating purposeful daily habits!
When I actually analyzed my day to day interactions, it was clear that I was responsible for my current reality. I found that my daily habits where not productive and continued to feed my problems. For example, most of my days where filled with sleep as a way to avoid finding solutions to budding problems. Some would call it depression, and I would say that is true to a degree. However, I was mostly sleeping to keep my mind off of feeling overwhelmed thinking about my problems. In addition to sleeping, I was also watching several seasons of my favorite show on TV. None of my daily habits were purposeful. So the first thing I did was to plan out my days and only allow myself to sleep at night. Below I will also share some of the purposeful habits I adopted in my life.
Create a daily schedule from 8am-5pm. Be specific about what you will work on each hour and the duration.
Face your problems and seek help (if needed) to find solutions.
I incorporated exercise to help with my mental stamina. Exercising helps to reduce stress and increases your mental stamina.
Carve out time to learn something new or research resources for current projects.
Make a list of goals that have 30 or 60 days time lines. This will help you to be accountable and show progress levels. One important rule you should always remember, make sure you create realistic goals that can be achieved in that timeframe.
Consistently evaluate your plans and make adjustments where needed.
